TEACHER GUIDES
Dear Teachers and Instructors,
I am very excited to share with you some of the fascinating details of Inuit history and culture, and particularly about my father, Stephen Angulalik. Through his story students will learn about the Kitikmeot region of Nunavut, the trapping economy and his people, the Inuinnait. There are seven modules included, two for junior high students appropriate for grades 7 to 9, two for senior high students, appropriate for social studies and northern studies in grades 10 and 11, and three for adult learners. Specific outcomes and background information are provided in a Teacher Resource Guide included in each .zip file, along with the additional materials required for each module.
Whether you’re from the Kitikmeot or from other places in Canada I think we have a wonderful site to help your students gain a deeper appreciation for the accomplishments Inuit have made to Canadian society. Come join us on our journey into the past.
Enjoy,
Emily Angulalik
Chair, Pitquhirnikkut Ilihautiniq / Kitikmeot Heritage Society
